The Lab
Hikma Lab was started by two pathologists who were tired of chasing samples across the Gulf and waiting days for a number a patient needed that afternoon.
Dr. Salma Al-Ansari and Dr. Kareem Fakhro spent years reading slides for hospitals that outsourced their labs abroad. Samples travelled for days, results came back without context, and no one could answer a clinician who called with a question. They opened Hikma in 2014 to keep the whole chain — draw, analysis, and interpretation — under one roof in Manama.
A decade on, the rule that opened the lab still runs it: every abnormal result gets a human set of eyes, every clinician call reaches a pathologist, and no report leaves the building until the number can be defended. The instruments got faster; the standard did not move.

Any critical or abnormal value is repeated on a second method before it ever reaches a report. Speed never overrides certainty.
Reports carry reference ranges, prior results, and a pathologist note when the picture is not obvious. A value alone is only half an answer.
A referring doctor who phones reaches a pathologist, not a queue. Interpretation is part of the test, not an upsell.
From the barcode at the bedside to the sealed cold chain, every sample is traceable end to end. No anonymous tubes.
