The House

One room, one wall of frames, and a refusal to rush your eyes.

Noor began in 2008 as a quiet corrective to the mall optician — no fluorescent glare, no commission-driven upselling, and none of the fifty identical black rectangles.

Rana Qawasmeh trained as an optometrist in Amman and London, then spent six years behind a chain-store counter watching good eyes fitted to bad lenses. In 2008 she took a single room on Al-Wakalat Street, painted it white, and hung thirty frames she actually believed in.

The lab came next — an edging machine in the back so lenses are ground here, not shipped and hoped for. The wall grew slowly, one honest house at a time. Sixteen years on the room is the same room, and the rule has not changed: the exam is the product, the frame is the reward.

How we work

01

The exam is the product

We would rather you buy nothing than buy the wrong lens. Get the eyes right and everything after it is just styling.

02

Frames are edited, not stocked

Forty houses reach us; most are politely returned. A small wall you can trust beats a warehouse you cannot.

03

Lenses are ground, not ordered

Our own edging lab sits behind the counter, so your prescription is cut here and checked here before it leaves.

04

No commission, ever

The people who fit you are paid to be right, not to sell. Nobody here earns more because you spent more.

Eyes due a check?

Two years is long enough between exams. Book the chair — the frame can wait until after.
