Established in Doha to give commercial parties a neutral, enforceable alternative to national courts.
Arbitration & dispute resolution
Tahkeem was founded in 2011 as an independent institution administering arbitration under its own rules and the UNCITRAL framework. It is governed by a court of eminent jurists who never sit as arbitrators — a deliberate wall between administration and decision.
Its seat in West Bay hears matters in Arabic and English, applies whatever law the parties chose, and issues awards that Qatari courts and 170+ New York Convention states will enforce.
Fourteen years on, it has administered disputes worth billions of riyals — and its record is that most of them were never heard of again, which is precisely the point.
The court appoints; it never adjudicates. No arbitrator answers to the institution that confirmed them.
Existence, filings, and awards are private by default — a commercial necessity, not a courtesy.
Fixed timetables, expedited tracks under QAR 3M, and scrutiny that catches errors before the award is signed.
Every award is drafted to survive challenge and cross a border.
Appointed for independence and sector fluency — not to fill a roster.
