The House

It began with one rough stone and a stubborn belief.

That the emerald — difficult, fractured, alive — deserved a house that served it rather than the other way around.

In 1998 Nadia Al-Rashed, a gemologist trained in Idar-Oberstein, opened a two-bench workshop off Fashion Avenue with a single Muzo rough and no intention of ever selling diamonds. Colleagues called it a narrow bet. She called it focus.

Twenty-six years later the house still sets only the emerald, still refuses to cast, and still keeps a file on every piece it has made. The workshop has four benches now instead of two. The obsession has not moved an inch.

The house code

01

The stone leads

We design around the emerald in hand, never to a sketch drawn before we have seen it. The mount serves the stone.

02

Set, never cast

Every mount is built by hand from sheet and wire. It takes weeks longer and holds a stone for generations.

03

A file for every piece

Origin, carat, treatment, the setter’s name. If you inherit a Zumurrud piece, its whole life is on record with us.

04

Cared for, always

Cleaning, retipping and resetting for the life of the piece, at no charge. Emeralds are soft; we are patient.
