The Outfit

We were the kids who knew the shortcut.

Atlas Trails is a guiding collective out of Imlil — no head office in a glass tower, just guides who grew up between these peaks and decided to make a living reading them.

It started with three cousins carrying loads for other people’s expeditions in 2011. We knew the mountain better than the guides we carried for, so we got certified, pooled our savings for a mule and two tents, and started running our own routes.

Thirteen years on we are eleven guides, four muleteers, and a basecamp office in Guéliz where the walls are covered in route maps and the kettle never goes cold. We still hire from the villages we walk through — that was the whole point.

The trail ethic

01

The mountain decides

If the weather turns, we turn. No summit is worth a rescue, and no refund is worth a risk we can read coming.

02

Pay the valley

Muleteers, cooks, and guesthouses are hired locally and paid properly. The trail only stays open if the people on it can live.

03

Pack it out

Everything we carry up, we carry down — down to the orange peel. The next group deserves the same clean col we found.

04

Small on purpose

Eight to a guide is a ceiling, not a target. A quiet trail is safer, kinder to the land, and simply better.
