Four generations after the last pearl dive, we went back to the water.

Salman Al Mahmeed’s great-grandfather dived for pearls off Muharraq until the banks closed in the thirties. The family kept the sea in its stories and left it for offices — until 2017, when Salman signed a lease in Adliya and a handshake deal with two boat captains in the same afternoon.

The deal was simple and still is: we buy the day’s catch whole — the proud fish and the humble ones — so the boats never chase a buyer at noon. In return, the board changes daily and our guests eat what the Gulf actually gave that morning.

Nine years on, the contract is three boats, the dining room seats fifty with the deck, and the name is still a promise rather than a logo.
