AlUla · Ashar Valley

Where the nightstill keeps its stars.

A boutique retreat of twenty-two suites and villas folded into the sandstone of Ashar Valley — lantern-lit courtyards, a long table under the open sky, and a silence you can actually hear.

The idea

An oasis, kept deliberately small.

Zerzura borrows its name from a city the old caravans swore they had seen and could never find again — a white oasis that showed itself only at dusk, then folded back into the sand.

We built ours where the sandstone glows the same colour at last light, and kept it to twenty-two doors — small enough that no evening ever feels crowded, and the valley stays the loudest thing you hear.

  • Small on purpose

Twenty-two keys, one seating at the long table, never a crowd at the pool.

  • Lit by fire

Lanterns and oil lamps after sunset — nothing floodlit, so the sky stays black.

  • The land first

Built with local stone and hands, shaded by the palms that were already here.

Three doors we are known for

The rest of the house changes with the season and the light. These three do not.

Reasons to leave the room

Guided by people who grew up in this valley and still find new corners of it.

Stargazing suppers

A table set on the dunes, dinner served as the sky turns over, an astronomer naming what you are looking at.

Hegra at first light

The Nabataean tombs, fifteen minutes away, walked before the buses arrive and the heat with them.

Canyon & oasis walks

A slow morning route through the palm gardens and the narrow rock passages the valley is named for.

Oud nights by the fire

Once a week, a player, a fire, cardamom coffee, and no reason at all to check the time.

Every stay includes

Sunrise breakfast in the valley

Spring-fed plunge pool

Lantern-lit courtyards

Nightly stargazing deck

Airport & Hegra transfers

Sandstone hammam

We came for two nights and rebooked from the breakfast table. The kind of quiet you forget exists.
